Fung Yau-choi, born in Shanghai, China, is one of the few professional cheongsam masters in Hong Kong. With more than 50 years of cheongsam making experience, Fung is also known as the great master of Shanghai-style qipao. He also masters the first-generation cheongsam making techniques and knowledge. During the golden age of tailors, many tailors from Shanghai moved to Hong Kong and opened their tailor shops. Cheongsam produced by Master Fung was spread to the Isetan Department Store in Japan. Works of Master Fung have been exhibited in different cheongsam exhibitions in Hong Kong - some are even in the permanent collection of Sam Tung Uk Museum. To promote and inherit the traditional craft, Master Fung actively engages in the education of cheongsam making in Hong Kong.
