Shiwan Pottery
He Xiangu

He Xiangu is a legendary figure well-known in Chinese folklore, yet she is rarely seen as a subject in Shiwan female figurines. This piece aims to depict the ethereal beauty of a fairy in flight through her charming face, graceful body and posture, and the light, flowing robe and ribbons.

I've been practicing pottery as a hobby for many years, and during the process, I discovered my particular fondness for handbuilding clay sculptures. I appreciate the versatility and adaptability of clay. After participating in this Shiwan ceramic sculpture course, I realized that artistic expression can be incorporated into ceramic sculptures, allowing viewers to experience the intended atmosphere. I hope to set this as my goal moving forward, continuing to study and create.
